We are just two weeks away from Netflix releasing the prequel series to 2001’s cult him comedy Wet Hot American Summer. We’ve already seen footage, images, and just about everything we need to get overly excited for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp, but that isn’t stopping Netflix from rolling out a new trailer for us to enjoy. Designed to parody an instructional VHS video, the trailer offers campers the chance to meet some of the councilors they will be spending their summer with. Familiar faces are abound as Amy Poehler offers tips on how to have this summer at Camp Firewood, and other less-reputable councilors seem to be mysteriously edited out of the video. The trailer is right on par with the sense of humor that should be expected from this series. This hype train keeps rolling, and our excitement is in danger of over-peaking.
The series is releasing the entire first, and maybe only, season on Netflix on July 31st, and takes the concept of prequel to its ultimate limit, setting the episodes two months before the events of the film that was made fourteen years ago. It will be interesting to see how they explain the absence of new-comers to the series like Lake Bell and Jason Schwartzman, especially with Schwartzman playing the Head Boys Councilor who gives off a very creepy vibe, and is never mentioned once in the original film. Looks like we will just have to wait for the series to answer all of our questions. If the sense of humor the first showed is any indicator, we may not actually get any answers.
As excited for this series as we are? Sound off in the comments below!
