Meet GAME OF THRONES’ New Kingsguard: The BLACK KNIGHT, Martin of House Lawrence

A sworn member of the Kingsguard vows to protect the ruler of the realm and his royal family, to lay down his life for theirs, to obey the king’s commands, and to keep his secrets. However, the group known as the White Swords, once made up of the greatest knights in the Seven Kingdoms, currently stands in disarray. With King Tommen besieged by enemies on all sides, he needs a man of honor and skill to wear the white cloak. He needs the Black Knight, Martin of House Lawrence.

In this mash-up trailer from the YouTube channel PizzaPartyFX, Lawrence’s Jamal from the (incredibly underrated!) movie Black Knight doesn’t get sent back in time to medieval England, but instead gets dropped into King’s Landing in Westeros.

This is one especially well done crossover trailer, and it’s Lawrence’s reactions to the characters on Game of Thrones that make it work. Jon obliterates a White Walker? “Ohh s***.” The weird red priestess tries to seduce you? “Y’all really know how to make a brother feel welcome.” Tormund eyes you amorously while eating? “Time to get the boogie on.”

His reaction to Cersei’s icy stare, though, feels like the most genuine response anyone has ever had to her; Lawrence just squirms in his chair trying to will himself to vanish. How can anyone deal with that stare?! It’s not possible!

Look, I know you just came for the funny trailer, but now that you’re here let me just say the Black Knight is much better than people give it credit for. It’s silly fun, but somehow still manages to have heart, as well as a redeeming, touching ending. I’m just not sure I’d want Jamal on the Kingsguard.

What other movie characters would make for a funny Game of Thrones crossover? Tell us in the comments below.
