We’ve been craving that delicious long-lost relic of the ’90s, McDonald’s Mulan tie-in Szechuan Sauce, ever since we saw Rick and Morty‘s season three premiere. And our inability to get our greasy hands on some was only made worse when we missed out on winning a gallon of it this past summer. But it turns out we live in one of the good infinite Earths, because this Saturday, October 7th, the fast food giant is bringing the sauce back for a special, one-day-only promotion.
We learned about this squanchy announcement at Polygon, and we’re already planning on camping out at our nearest participating McDonald’s to get some of what they’re calling a “really, really limited!” supply.
This short comeback is part of the company’s big release for their new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders. The promotion will also include the unveiling of their all new Signature Sauce, as well as giving away “1,000 limited-edition, hand numbered, screen-printed posters for all 10 sauces in our legendary lineup.” That includes the Szechuan Sauce, which is getting its own sweet poster that has a very Rick and Morty feel to it.
If you’re hoping to get ahold of some, here’s what you need to know. First, check if your local McDonald’s is participating. The Szechuan Sauce is only available on a “first come, first served basis” when you buy a four-, six-, or 10-piece Buttermilk Crispy Tenders “starting at 2:00pm local time on October 7, 2017.” It is only one giveaway per customer, and it doesn’t sound like there will be much of it, so don’t hesitate.
McDonald’s didn’t mention Rick and Morty in their announcement, but we think Justin Roiland and Dan Harmom had something to do with making this dream a reality. And now that Rick and Morty‘s third season has come to a close, we’ll need all the pick-me-ups we can get.
