MC Lars Returns with “If I Were A Jedi (That Would Be Hella Awesome)” (Premiere)

If you haven’t seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet, avoiding spoilers online, especially in YouTube comments, is not easy. You pretty much have to stay off the internet to avoid having integral plot points of the movie prematurely revealed to you. Before you disconnect your router, though, nerdcore rapper MC Lars has a new, fun, and totally spoiler-free Star Wars song for you: “If I Were A Jedi (That Would Be Hella Awesome”. We are happy to premiere it today on Nerdist, so check out the video above.

Most rap songs tend not to have extended sections of instrumental viola, but this one sure does, and we’ll take it, even if it’s only because we’ve always wanted to see Yoda float above a stool and play one. It seems being a Jedi is a sort of “Most Interesting Man in the World” scenario, as MC Lars would spend his time doing everything from playing professional baseball to reading War and Peace in 10 minutes.

Lars had this to say about his brand-new music video:

‘If I Were a Jedi (That Would be Hella Awesome)’ is a spoiler-free Star Wars tribute from my new nerdcore rap album, The Zombie Dinosaur LP. Complete with crazy references ranging from Harry Potter to Run-DMC to Fetty Wap, the lyrics of this song explain what I might do if I had actual Jedi powers in real-life situations. This video was directed and shot in Chicago by the creative and talented Ben Garbe and features cameos from the Midwest 501s and Brian Mazzaferri from I Fight Dragons. Thanks for peeping it! Happy holidays!

The Zombie Dinosaur LP was released on November 6, and you can listen to and download it here.
