Over the last year and a half, we’ve seen Deadpool and Logan become two of the most successful X-Men live-action films, essentially becoming the public face of the franchise. Now that repute is transferring over to the comics, as Marvel has revealed that a five-issue Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan miniseries will debut later this year. Writer Declan Shalvey and artist Mike Henderson will serve as the primary creative team.
Longtime comic readers may recall that Wolverine and Deadpool actually formed an odd friendship before Wolverine’s untimely death a few years ago. However, Old Man Logan doesn’t have that same history with Deadpool. In fact, he absolutely can’t stand him.
According to Marvel, the story revolves around Logan’s attempts to track down a new Omega-level mutant who may be among the most powerful mutants in the world. However, Logan’s refusal of Deadpool’s help leads Deadpool to make Logan’s mission his own while outmatching his newfound enemy every step of the way. As you can see in the page above, the claws and the swords will come out. Considering that both Logan and Deadpool have healing factors, they will have a hard time killing each other off.
But this is still a Deadpool story, so we can probably expect a lot of laughs as well. The following preview page is particularly funny, as Logan and Deadpool attempt to evade a van. And judging by the accuracy of the van’s trajectory, it seems likely that the aforementioned Omega-level mutant hurled it at them.
You can find more preview pages in our gallery below. Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan # 1 will be released on Wednesday, October 18.
