X-Men: Apocalypse is finally in theaters, and we can probably look forward to a new round of X-Men tributes and parodies in the coming weeks and months. But The Warp Zone is getting in on the fun early with a mashup parody of the X-Men and the famous R&B group, Boyz II Men.
In “Boyz II X-Men,” Beast (Michael Adams Davis), Cyclops (Ryan Tellez), Gambit (Brian Fisher), and Wolverine (David Odom) sing about their difficulties getting intimate with the ladies in their lives. And there are definite relationship issues that come from Rogue (Christina Calph) being unable to touch, Storm (Aleu Moana) letting the lightning loose, Jean Grey (Maddie McGuire) going evil, and wait…Jubilee (Erica Ishii) and Beast?! Thatâs not a thing! And also not age appropriate. Youâre weird, Warp Zone.
Because the men of Xavierâs School for Gifted Youngsters are behaving like boys, it falls upon Professor X (Josh Mattingly) to drop the mic and some wisdom on his students.
Minor nitpicks aside, this is a pretty cool tribute to the X-Men comic books of the â90s. The video was written by Tellez and Davis, with direction by Michael Schroeder, cinematography by Joe Cheung, and make-up by Roxanne Pike. TJ Smith deserves a special shout out for handling the vocal production and the singing voice of Beast.
Weâve featured The Warp Zone here several times before, and we recommend their regularly updated YouTube channel for more comedy videos and acapella covers of famous geek themes.
