Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Makes 4 Year Old’s Dream Come True

Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. at Discovery Times Square had some very special guests yesterday when Prestun Seibel, a 4 year old boy suffering from a rare childhood brain cancer, was given a special tour of the Avengers Station by the exhibit’s resident Captain America.

Prestun is in New York City visiting Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to treat stage 4 Neuroblastoma at their state of the art facilities. He is a huge, huge fan of superheroes, his parents told us, and has always wanted to be one. Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. gave him a wonderful opportunity to see that wish come true with help from Candlelighters NYC, a volunteer organization that helps families with children who are fighting cancer. Discovery Times Square invited their Captain America to give the tour and threw Prestun, who is turning 5 on September 17th, a surprise birthday complete with cake and special Captain America gifts.

During the tour, Prestun, his parents and Captain America got to go through all of the rooms in the exhibit space and even had the chance to learn how to fly and shoot beams from the Iron Man suit simulation. The tour was a little overwhelming for Prestun, but his favorite part was the interactive starscape that allows visitors to the station to map out distant systems including Asgard. He also got to test his reflexes against those of Captain America, activate a Tesseract Portal Device, and see the real costumes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Prestun and his family are raising awareness and funds to pay for the life-sustaining treatments that Neuroblastoma requires. They have sent out a public call to action on Facebook and his website asking individuals all over the world to write to Prestun about their favorite superhero. Cards are starting to come in with personal drawings, messages of support and far flung wishes for health for Prestun who is undergoing a critical surgical procedure in the days before his birthday. You can send messages of support to him through his Facebook page too. Despite the intense treatments that he has travelled all the way from Kansas to receive here in New York City, he is in great spirits after a day spent with superheroes.
