Marvel Reveals AVENGERS ALLIANCE 2 Tie-in Comic

Marvel’s popular online game, Avengers Alliance is about to get a mobile-only sequel, Avengers Alliance 2. And while some fans are still playing through the original title, Marvel and Disney Interactive have created a new comic to bridge the gap between the first game and its sequel.

Veteran Marvel writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Paco Diaz are the creative team on the new four-part Avengers Alliance comic book, which will be available for free online. However, fans at this weekend’s inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con will be able to get a print version of the first issue at the Disney Interactive panel.

The original Avengers Alliance game didn’t share continuity with Marvel’s comic book universe, but it did adapt several of Marvel’s ongoing storylines into the game’s narrative. Post-Secret Wars, Marvel has actually introduced elements from Avengers Alliance – including the Iso-8 power source – into its new Ultimates title. It’s quite possible that Avengers Alliance 2 may also add to the Marvel mythos.

ComicBook.com debuted the entire first chapter of the Avengers Alliance comic, which appears to confirm Thanos’ status as the new big bad for Avengers Alliance 2. In the comic, the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers team up to fight Thanos’ Black Order, before the next generation of Marvel heroes take the spotlight.

Disney Interactive hasn’t yet announced a launch date for Avengers Alliance 2, but it is expected to be released soon.
