Marvel Relaunches BLADE With His Daughter!

There’s a new Blade in the Marvel Universe, and she’s bringing her father along for the ride!

As part of the All-New, All-Different Marvel relaunch coming this fall, Marvel’s famous vampire hunter, Blade is getting a new ongoing series from Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley and artist Logan Faerber. The twist is that Eric Brooks, a.k.a. Blade, will be sharing the spotlight with his previously never-revealed 16-year-old daughter, Fallon Grey.

“[Fallon’s] sort of ‘anti-Peter Parker’,” said Seeley. “She’s popular, she’s well-liked, and it seems like the world is her oyster. But, the expectations that come with being so damn perfect are starting to break her down, and that’s before she learns she’s the heir to a Daywalking-Monster-Stabbing-Empire.”

Blade has spawned three feature films starring Wesley Snipes as the title character, and a live action TV series with Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones in the lead role. However, that success has never fully translated into a long-running ongoing solo comic book series for Blade. The last time that Blade appeared was in Mighty Avengers as a member of Luke Cage’s team.

For the new Blade ongoing series, Seeley and Faerber are sending Blade and Fallon up against a new breed of seemingly unkillable monsters called Black Genus.

“The problem with vampires is that we all know the rules,” explained Seeley. “And that’s inherently less scary. When Blade meets Black Genus, he — and the readers — will have no idea how to kill these things. And that’s where the scares and the fun comes from.”

The Blade ongoing series will launch in October.
