CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Set Photos Reveal Black Panther Costume

The first look at Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther costume has been revealed thanks to some leaked set photos while Captain America: Civil War films in Berlin. While in the middle of a technical stunt sequence, the stunt doubles for Boseman and Sebastian Stan be seen near the edge of an architectural precipice on what appears to be a multi-story building. Stan’s character Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, currently stands at unknown allegiance during the stunt, but it appears as if both Winter Soldier and Black Panther are scaling down the building in tandem, rather than one being chased by the other. Eventually, it’s obvious that Black Panther reaches the ground, while Bucky is still a few stories above.

T’Challa’s costume is largely faithful to its comic book version, albeit stylized very much the same way other Avengers’ costumes have been for the movies. In place of the Wakandan regalia and panther-teeth accoutrement on the costume is a neckline and gloves lined with what we assume is Vibranium. The Black Panther suit itself is likely to be nearly entirely Vibranium, albeit of the thinner, woven kind. Nonetheless, replacing the typically gold accents with silver suggests the material is going to be key in aiding T’Challa’s battle-readiness. Just look at what Cap’s shield is capable of withstanding.

Civil War is the third of the Captain America films and will set in motion a divisive series of events that will pit former Avengers teammates against each other after an international disaster. Plenty of leaks have popped up with supposed insights into the structure of the plot, but until we see it on the screen, we have to advise reading what arises with a grain of salt. Many liberties will have to be taken to adapt the “Civil War” story from the pages of the comic books, and so far, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done an excellent job reworking existing comic stories to fit within the confines of their established universe. One thing is certain, however: America’s sweetheart Steve Rogers, will most certainly be serving up some intense stare-downs alongside perpetual wiseass Tony Stark during the course of Civil War. Bring on the GIFs!

Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans were also filming in a nearby location. Check out the images in the gallery below and sound off on your opinions of the costume!
