There’s only one more Marvel movie this year, but we’re already looking past Thor: Ragnarok for the big event of 2018: Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel has been teasing the arrival of Thanos since the mid-credits scene of The Avengers, and the Mad Titan isn’t about to go down without taking a few characters with him. Today’s Nerdist News is running down our Marvel deadpool (no, not that one) to determine who’s going to live and who will die!
Warning: there are potential spoilers ahead! Remember what we like to say: it’s always a theory or a rumor, until it isn’t.
Join us at American Horror Story‘s Murder House as host and Nova Corps Centurion, Jessica Chobot runs down the major players of the next Avengers movie. Believe it or not, Marvel has already given us a pretty good idea about the survival chances of its characters. Let’s put it this way: it would be pretty hard to make a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 if the titular heroes were dead.
Aside from those two sequels, Marvel Studios has been pretty quiet about what we can expect to see once Phase 3 comes to an end. But if we were to make an educated guess, we’d say that Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man are all safe from mistress Death. Because it’s all about the sequels, brah! Ant-Man can’t die before Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Marvel has to have plans for its other solo heroes.
Who does that leave us with? Nebula and the Avengers themselves. If Infinity War plays out in a similar way to Infinity Gauntlet, then Nebula will have an absolutely huge role in this movie. We just can’t guarantee that she’ll walk away from this story. As for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, many of the key actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are at the end of their contracts. There’s no way in hell all of the Avengers will die, but there are a few more likely to go than the others. We think that Infinity War will probably give us the dramatic death of either Iron Man or Captain America. But in a comic book movie, death isn’t necessarily the end. And there are heroes waiting in the wings to take over their roles in the MCU.
