Evangeline Lilly Shares Look at Hope Van Dyne’s ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Costume

About a million Marvel movies are hitting theaters in the coming year, but as far as I’m concerned, we can fast forward to July 2018 for Ant-Man and the Wasp. The upcoming addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will see Evangeline Lilly‘s Hope van Dyne suit up alongside Paul Rudd‘s Scott Lang for an urgent mission. To which I say, about damn time.

Production on the movie began in early August, and Lilly just took to Twitter to share the first look of herself in the Wasp costume. I am Here. For. This. Even if the costume is missing the helmet in this shot.

This image is far superior to the peek we got at art of the Wasp’s ensemble by Andy Park on a banner at D23 Expo.

I mean, the concept illustration is lovely, but seeing Lilly as Wasp is something else. Especially since her suit seems to have received some upgrades since we first got a glimpse of it in Ant-Man‘s mid-credits scene in 2015.

Lilly shared the preview because she’s on set filming during what would have been Jack Kirby‘s 100th birthday. Kirby co-created the character of the Wasp with Stan Lee. The photo’s a more than fitting tribute, and if you don’t agree, let me introduce you to Lilly’s Wasp arms:
