If you thought the news about the Iron Man Experience opening at Hong Kong Disneyland was big, then hold onto your arc reactor. Thanks to Oh My Disney, we know the company has announced the theme park has put together a proposed multi-year expansion (2018-2023) that includes a whole lotta revamping, including a whole Marvel-themed land. Please let the hype sink in by examining this concept art:
With Marvel inspired meet and greets and attractions popping up in the United States Disney parks, it was only a matter of time before a whole land was introduced. The aforementioned Iron Man Experience opening on January 11 is Hong Kong Disneyland’s first Marvel-themed ride. The Marvel universe will continue to expand with new experiences and attractions taking over Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Autopia. The shooter ride replacing Astro Blasters will feature heroes from Marvel comics; one piece of concept art shows Ant-Man. As for the other attraction, Disney says it’s “dedicated to one of the most popular Marvel franchises.”
Hopping out of superhero world and into the rest of the park, more big changes are happening. The castle and the surrounding area will be transformed to better suit entertainment experiences and include a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. They’re also adding a Frozen-themed land that will immerse park attendees in the world of Arendelle. Shops, restaurants, and entertainment will all be themed. WDW News Today has concept pieces teasing these additions, but you can get a glimpse below.
Finally, Adventureland is gaining a touch of Moana. The upcoming film will have presence in the park in the form of Moana’s Village Festival. There will be a stage show and a Moana meet and greet.
In short, Hong Kong Disneyland is getting all the things. I was planning to visit the park in the next five years, but at this point, I’ll wait until the expansion is completed before I book. I’m most excited about walking into Arendelle. Which part of the expansion has you drooling? Let me know in the comments.
