Martian Manhunter Makeup Test from George Miller’s Cancelled JUSTICE LEAGUE Film

With the success of George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and hype building more and more for Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice, it makes sense that a lot of talk has been circling about the Justice League: Mortal movie that Miller was supposed to direct. We’ve covered the cancelled film on our site, and it seems the Twitter account for the proposed documentary about Miller’s failed DC film just keeps churning out wonderful little tidbits from the film. Recently, the account posted a picture that showed Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played Toecutter in the original Mad Max and Immortan Joe in Fury Road, completely done up in a makeup and prosthetics test for his role as J’onn J’onzz, The Martian Manhunter, in Miller’s Justice League.

The first thing many have commented on is that this version looks very bulky around the neck. While this is true, it does help differentiate the character as being a different species than all the other characters in the film. The other thing to remember is this was only a test, and it’s for a film that isn’t happening anyway. Who’s to say it wouldn’t have looked different if Miller had actually gotten a chance to make the film?

What do you think? Is the filming looking like a missed opportunity the more we see from it? Let us know in the comments below.
