There are minor spoilers ahead for the ending of Avengers: Age of Ultron! If for some unlikely reason you completely missed the last Avengers movie, donât read this article until youâre up to date!
Near the conclusion of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulk went off on his own and disappeared. It was also unclear whether this was Hulkâs choice, or if it was something that Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) wanted as well. The next Marvel Studios film is Captain America: Civil War, which will feature almost all of the Avengers. At one point, the Hulk was rumored to return in Civil War, and Ruffalo fed that rumor when he said that Robert Downey Jr. told him that the Hulk was in the movie. However, Ruffalo has now updated the Hulkâs status. And while Hulk was originally in the film, heâs no longer in Civil War.
âThe reason is too great to be revealed in this movie (Civil War),â said Ruffalo while being interviewed by BadTaste.it. âI was in the script but then they removed my character. They donât want to reveal where is he and why. I donât even know if Hulk will be back soon.â
Thatâs only going to fuel more speculation as to the whereabouts of the Hulk. Obviously, the Hulk will be back for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War films. But if Marvel doesnât want to keep Hulk on the shelf for three years then he could potentially show up earlier. Perhaps… in Thor: Ragnarok? Itâs also long been rumored that Hulk could appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, despite director James Gunnâs repeated denials.
Captain America: Civil War will open on May 6, 2016.
