Mark Millar and Rafael Albuquerque’s HUCK is Getting a Movie Adaptation

Earlier today it was revealed that Fox is officially moving forward with Mark Millar’s Kingsman 2, and Millar’s Nemesis has been confirmed to be in development at Warner Bros. Pictures. Now, Millar’s latest comic book series, Huck, is also heading to the big screen.

Huck has reportedly been picked up by Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8, over a month before the first issue is slated to be released by Image Comics. Millar co-created Huck with artist Rafael Albuquerque and the premise and the main character are a departure from Millar’s sarcastic and cynical heroes. Millar has described the title character of Huck as “Captain America meets Forest Gump.” The comic book series revolves around Huck’s attempts to use his superpowers to do good deeds in his small town before his idyllic life is disrupted when the secret of his existence is exposed to the world.

Back in July, Millar hinted that there was already interest in Huck from Hollywood studios, after Millar successfully landed adaptations for Wanted, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Kick-Ass. Studio 8 is said to be currently looking for writers and directors to adapt Huck for the film.

Outside of Millar’s original comic book properties, Marvel Studios is adapting the Civil War miniseries that Millar created with artist Steve McNiven as Captain America: Civil War. Fox is also widely rumored to be using Millar and McNiven’s “Old Man Logan” storyline as the basis for the third Wolverine movie.

The first issue of Millar and Albuquerque’s Huck will be released on Wednesday, November 18.
