Mark Hamill Shares Family Photos from the Set of RETURN OF THE JEDI

At the recent Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, actor James Arnold Taylor, best known to Clone Wars fans as the voice for Obi-Wan Kenobi, interviewed actor Mark Hamill about his life and his legacy as Luke Skywalker. Among the many things they chatted about (including Hamill’s return as Luke in The Force Awakens, of course) was how the Hamill family had recently unearthed some old photographs from the filming of Return of the Jedi. The family photos come from way back in 1982, when Mark Hamill’s son Nathan was just three years old. Nathan got to live the dream of every little kid back in the ’80s–hiding out inside R2-D2, chillin’ with Yoda in his hut on Dagobah, hanging out in the Ewok village, and even sitting in the Emperor’s throne on the Death Star. There’s also pics of Mark Hamill hanging out with his fellow X-Wing pilo,t Wedge Antilles, a.k.a actor Denis Lawson, as well as the Emperor himself, Ian McDiarmid.

Now Mark’s wife, Marilou Hamill, has shared those photos with StarWars.com for fans everywhere to see, and then we can collectively all be insanely jealous of Nathan Hamill’s amazing childhood. As it turns out, growing up on the set of a Star Wars movie is beneficial to one’s development as a cool human being, as Nathan Hamill grew up to work for Matt Groening’s Bongo Comics for many years, and is currently a successful artist.
