MARIO PARTY: STAR RUSH Is Coming to Nintendo 3DS

The hottest item to pop out of Nintendo’s question block of announcements during E3 was undoubtedly the debut trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Advertising some kind of survivalist bent—the video featured shots of Link hunting, cooking, and surveying beautiful landscapes—the latest Zelda entry looks aptly in step with a video game franchise that has always prioritized imagination, thoughtfulness, and patience. But not every gamer is big on that last trait, a fact of which the people behind Mario Party have clearly taken notice.

The newest member of the Mario Party lineage, appropriately named Mario Party: Star Rush, has effectively cut out everyone’s least favorite aspect of the series: waiting their turn. The game allows all active players the option (in what Gamespot reveals to be a mode called “Toad Scramble”) to roll die and move across the board at the same time as one another, ostensibly progressing toward different points and objectives.

Additional new features, as we’ve gleaned from the above trailer, include rallying teams (led by different color Toads) of Mario Party characters to ultimate take on a given level’s central bad guy. At this point, we know Star Rush’s roster of playable characters to include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, Toadette, and Toad. Included among the level boss community, again per the trailer, are the likes of Big Boo, King Bob-omb, Kamek, and Bowser.

Mario Party: Star Rush will release on Nintendo 3DS on November 4, and will be the first Amiibo-compatible of the Mario Party games.
