MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Told with Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs

Fury Road: Egyptian Hieroglyphs? Yes please.

A Japanese artist has made a hieroglyphic version of Mad Max: Fury Road that wouldn’t look all that out of place on a pyramid wall in Giza. The artist, Takumi, released the pictures on his Facebook page, and they cover the story from start to finish. They also remind us that while Max might be the title character, Furiosa is clearly the hero.

It is becoming clear that Mad Max: Fury Road was not only a monumental movie-going experience for viewers, it has become the source of inspiration for a lot of diverse and talented people.

Here at Nerdist.com we have written about wearable Max-inspired creations like 3D-printed masks and War Boy bandanas, as well as custom posters and dolls. We’ve covered so many fan-created adaptations featuring such a wide-range of tie-ins it is almost impossible to believe. Don’t like the LEGO version? How about the Mario Kart one? Those too intense for you? Try Fury Road: My Little Pony or one of the multiple Adventure Time iterations. Maybe you’d rather see real people? Well, there’s a re-creation using go-karts and paintball guns for that, too.

Mad Max: Fury Road was unlike any other movie I have ever seen. The truth is I can’t get enough of it, and I don’t seem to be alone. As long as talented people are going to take the time to draw inspiration from it, we’ll take the time to tell you about them.

Make sure you head over to Takumi’s page to see the black and white drafts, too, because they are also definitely worthy of your time.
