MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Actress Abbey Lee Rumored for THE DARK TOWER

Abbey Lee, who played The Dag, one of the wives in Mad Max: Fury Road, is in negotiations to join the cast of The Dark Tower. Lee will join Idris Elba‘s Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey‘s Man in Black in the film and TV series. The Dark Tower is based on the fantasy/horror/Western series by Stephen King and will be directed by Nikolaj Arcel. The film is expected to start a franchise and the TV series will be a companion to the films.

The role she’s reportedly been cast in is that of Tirana, though fans of the books have taken a bit of issue with that. The trades are calling her the female lead, but the character of Tirana only appears in the seventh book in the series. There has been no comment yet from Sony/MRC, though it would hardly be the first time a film has changed some characters around in book adaptations. As you may have heard, Ron Howard was originally going to direct the film, but will now be producing alongside Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins.

In addition to Mad Max, Lee has a few other films in the can. She’ll next be seen in Alex Proyas‘ Gods of Egypt and Nicolas Winding Refn‘s Neon Demon. What do you think of the casting? Do you think Tirana’s role in the book will be expanded or will she stand in for someone else? Are you freaking out because of a major change (if she is indeed playing that role) this early in production? Who should play Jake Chambers? The Dark Tower is set to be released on January 13, 2017.
