LUKE CAGE Trailer, GOTHAM Season 3 Footage, and More TV News

The new, the old, the rebooted—TV-Cap covers it all. On this fine Wednesday, we have a look at the television reboot for The Exorcist, a look ahead at Marvel’s Luke Cage series, some footage from the next season of Gotham, and a peek into the past of Game of Thrones. Let’s do this.

Origins. How did Luke Cage gain his incredible powers? A new trailer for the superhero show teases his beginnings in the upcoming Netflix drama of the same name and features lots of Harlem, action, and a fair amount of Claire Temple. I’m sold, but given what Marvel and Netflix have created so far, I’m not a difficult customer. Luke Cage arrives on September 30. [Nerdist]

Amuse Yourself. Are you a fan of both Futurama and animated gifs? Then the Morbotron was made for you and will help you waste tons of time. The search engine created by Paul Kehrer, Sean Schulte, and Allie Young allows you to search screen caps and combines them with subtitles so you can craft all the gifs. Have fun and feel free to tweet us your gif creations! [Nerdist, Image: 20th Century Fox via Morbotron]

Endings and Beginnings. FX brought Donald Glover and his news series Atlanta to the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour on Tuesday. The actor looked back at wrapping up Community—he said some things I appreciate about endings—and ahead to what Atlanta’s all about. Read the details here at Nerdist.

Aww. Season six of The Walking Dead is headed to Blu-ray/DVD on August 23, so you have plenty of time to catch up before season seven. And you get some sweet bonus feature action too, like this clip showing more of the relationship between Rick and Michonne.

This Is Unfortunate. The cancellation of Marvel’s Agent Carter was sudden, and apparently it was that way to Marvel too. Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, told BusinessInsider he received a phone call saying the show was over. “There were no conversations. We had a call from the network. The network said they were canceling the show,” Loeb said. Why, ABC? You’d think they’d go to Marvel to discuss changes or a new plan or something before ending the series. I am disappoint. Throwing It Together. I should never be surprised about Rick and Morty doing off-the-wall things, should I? The series creators talked to Vulture at Comic-Con and improvised a mini-episode of the cartoon for them on the spot. Watch the amusing results above. [Nerdist]

Tipping the Hat. How will Fox’s TV adaptation of The Exorcist relate to the existing films? Series executive producers addressed that at the TCAs this week, and you can read Sydney’s full report from the panel right this way.

Building a Joker. Gotham brought in a number of villains from the DC Comics universe during season two, and during the TCAs, executive producer John Stephens said there will be more in times to come. Suicide Squad members are sort of off the table for season three because of the film, but Stephens said, “We’ll be seeing proto-versions of some of those characters. We’ll see a proto-Killer Croc version.” They’ll be expanding the Joker mythology when the upcoming season debuts on September 19 and seeing what all the villains from last year are up to. Keep That Door Open. Assuming you’ve watched season six of Game of Thrones, you know all about the meaning of “Hold the door!” The scene featuring those three words was beyond heartbreaking, but how did it translate in non-English languages? An Imgur user investigated and created a gallery of examples. Check them out over here.

Will you be watching Luke Cage? What did you think of the trailer? Sound off in the comments.
