All the LUKE CAGE News from the Comic-Con Panel

We were excited for the Marvel and Netflix’s Luke Cage series since about halfway through the first season of Jessica Jones. (And then of course we wanted season two of Jessica Jones immediately, but that’s neither here nor there.) But after this weekend, our excitement level is flying higher than Thor on a stormy night. Not only did we get to see an amazing new trailer in which Mr. Cage (Mike Colter) rips a door off of a car to use as a shield as he takes on a street gang, but we also got a slew of new information about the series, and we’re talking about it all on today’s Nerdist News!

It looks to us like the series will be an origin story of sorts, which is especially strange given that it takes place after what we’ve seen in Jessica Jones. Cage appears to be a fugitive, running from the people who forcibly subjected him to Captain America-like super soldier serum which made his skin unbreakable. If that’s true, it would mean that he was in hiding when he meets Jessica Jones and has gone back up to Harlem when Cottonmouth and his cronies catch up to him. As Frankie Faizon’s character says, Luke should become the kind of hero that’s “out there helping people, like them other fellas downtown.”

We also know that Rosario Dawson‘s Claire Temple will not be making an appearance in Luke Cage, even though the characters are romantically linked in the comics. We do, however, see him fraternizing with Iron Fist‘s future main squeeze, Misty Knight? Could there ALREADY be some Hero-for-Hire drama on the horizon?

What do you think? Let us know your Luke Cage thoughts and theories in the comments below and be sure to keep it glued all weekend long to Nerdist for more from San Diego Comic-Con!
