Lucasfilm and HP Announce STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Fan Art Competition

Prepare to tap into the creative side of the Force because Lucasfilm and HP have announced a new program called Art Awakens. The program is kicking off today with a two month fan art contest focused on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You know what that means: All that Captain Phasma art you’ve been making or that I hope you’ve been making? You can submit it as an entry in the contest immediately.

The rules seem simple: the art must be inspired by The Force Awakens. The end. A committee comprised of members from Disney, Lucasfilm, and Industrial Light and Magic will judge the entries. There will be five winners, and they’ll have their work featured in a professional exhibit in Los Angeles and have the opportunity to win a notebook computer from HP.

That professional exhibit mentioned will take place at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. The gallery is known for hosting wonderful exhibitions of pop culture-themed art so I can’t wait to see which artists contribute work for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens event. Original pieces at the show will be auctioned off with proceeds going to Force for Change–the money will specifically benefit UNICEF Kid Power. The program inspires kids to get active in order to earn points that unlock food packets for malnourished children. The work of the winners of the fan art contest will be featured in the exhibit, and the winners will be flown to Los Angeles for the VIP opening night. The exhibit will be open from November 13-15.

You can submit your work at ArtAwakens.com.

Are you planning to enter the Art Awakens competition? If so, head to the comments and let me know what you’re thinking about drawing!
