We all love Looney Tunes. Bugs, Daffy, Sylvester, Porky: these names are synonymous with wacky, slapstick gags and amazing animation of decades past. Over the years, there have been many attempts to reboot the franchise, sometimes with a beloved live action film that co-stars Michael Jordan, sometimes with an animated sitcom. But, no matter the method, we always show up because we love Bugs and the gang and all they do to make us laugh. This is why this news is both interesting and little confusing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a film titled Acme is in the works at Warner Brothers with X-Men: First Class and Power Rangers writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz working on the script. In addition, Steve Carell is attached to star in the film, and Crazy Stupid Love‘s Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are in talks to direct.
Plot details are scarce at the moment, but the report does state that the CGI/live-action hybrid film that’s been in development since 2010 will not focus on any the main characters we know and love, but rather – as the title implies – the fictional mega-corporation that produces all the wacky products and anvils featured in the series.
Truthfully, there’s potential for a film set around the Acme Corporation, especially if it’s done in a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sort of way. The product line of Acme is expansive enough that the film could explore some interesting dynamics within the company. What we’re saying is, we’re definitely into a Mad Men inspired Looney Tunes spin-off.

It’s almost as if this was done by an artist that could have easily been credited with the work (or, ye gods, asked permission).
