Lonely Island Premiered a New Song About Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire

It’s been a while since we’ve had new content from the Lonely Island. The group, made up of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer, rose to superstardom when they created viral music videos for Saturday Night Live with songs like “I’m on a Boat” and “I Just Had Sex.” But outside of their work on writing a second rap for Natalie Portman upon her return to SNL in early 2018 and a song about the Oscars called “Why Not Me?” we haven’t had a ton of new content from the Lonely Island lately.

Thankfully, per Pitchfork, the group has a new song for all of us to enjoy. During what the group was calling their first ever warm-up show for their first ever concert in California, the guys not only played some of our favorite Lonely Island hits, but they also busted out a brand new song. Thankfully fans in attendance made sure to record it for those of us who couldn’t be there.

The guys from Lonely Island like sportz and they don’t care who knows, so it’s perfect that the group’s new song had a sports theme. The still unnamed track featured Samberg dressed as Jose Canseco, Schaffer as Mark McGwire, and Taccone as Joe Montana.

It’s awesome to see the Lonely Island do a live show, and we’re pretty excited about this goofy new song from the group. The last Lonely Album, The Wack Album, came out in 2013, so we can only cross our fingers that this new song means even more music from them in the future. But if nothing else, we’re excited to at least have this fun new song.

What do you think of the Lonely Island’s new track? What is your favorite Lonely Island song? Let us know in the comments!
