Literally Everyone Funny That You Love Will Be in Netflix’s WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER

Well now, this? This here is insane. In the best way: Netflix’s limited series adaptation of the cult film classic Wet Hot American Summer has upped its goddamn game yet again. We were already excited about its existence — made doubly so with the announcement that the entire original cast would return — but now, with these brand new guest stars? We are over-the-moon and out-of-control excited. This ish is serious, y’all.

Joining the already chockablock business will be a veritable smorgasbord of good-time funnyfolk. This includes Michaela Watkins, John Slattery, Josh Charles, Randall Park, Jayma Mays, Lake Bell, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, and Richard “Toby Ziegler” Schiff. Another fun tidbit? The film’s co-creator David Wain, who had an uncredited cameo in the movie, will also appear on the show.

According to Deadline, the characterizations are as follows: Watkins is set to embody a tough 80s New Yorker, Charles will portray a — we’re sure — real chill dude from a rival camp, all while Huebel and Schiff will wreck havoc on Pierce’s academic career as a rival professor and academic superior, respectively. Park will portray a Shannon-obsessed librarian, Scheer a journalist, and Wain an acquaintance of one of the main campers from an Israeli kibbutz.

So basically all this confirms the Wet Hot American Summer limited series is going to be your new favorite series of all time, maybe ever. I mean to add those names to the likes of Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe LoTruglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, and Kevin Sussman? Absolute insanity of the ha-haiest order, my friend-os.

What do you think? Let us hear it in the comments.

I’m not really super excited about this show. Cuz I remember a time where Comedy Central was showing this movie constantly, ramming it down my throat. It was hilarious, but fuck! Show something else!

  2. donovan says:

The movie has nothing but a nice cast. I hope the series will learn from the mistakes the movie made and will be on par with todays, better, comedy shows

  3. Privileged says:

How interesting that “everyone funny” is pretty much all white people.

    Ha-haiest?

Looks like I picked a good time to re-subscribe to Netflix

I am pretty sure that if they auctioned off a “walk-on” role for charity that we could cure a disease with the bids they would get.
