Life is Like an 8-Bit FORREST GUMP Video Game

Behold the epic wonders of the multi-award-winning movie Forrest Gump reimagined as a video game. The fine folks at CineFix brought an 8-bit (and 16-bit) gamified version of the movie  to life and it couldn’t be more remarkable.

No need to dust off any of your retro consoles though. Unlike My Girl: The Video Game, we can’t play as Forrest Gump, but Cinefix does lead you through the life of our famed runner through various levels that actually require more than running.

The retelling of Forrest’s story includes a running level, a football level, a ping pong level, a rifle assembly level, a Vietnam War level, a shrimping level, and more leading up to the moment that you save Jenny. Oh Forrest, I’m so glad you know what love is.

Fall in love with the 8-bit version of Forrest, Forrest Gump below:

Even though there are various nods to retro games in the recreation (can you name them all?), the best part about the entire video is the chiptune versions of the movie’s soundtrack. Who knew that Alan Silvestri’s Forrest Gump Suite could be reimagined in such a simple fashion while retaining all of its heart?

If you’re craving for more 8-bit nostalgia with your movie addiction, check out CineFix’s other 8-bit movie renditions that include The Amazing Spider-Man, Finding Nemo, and The Hunger Games.
