Liam Neeson in Talks for MEN IN BLACK Reboot with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson

Policing the shadowy underworld of alien visitors on Earth takes a particular set of skills. To lead the secret force of agents who protect Earth from extraterrestrial threats requires someone who knows how to fight any and all enemies wherever they might pop up around (or beyond) the globe. And if one man on this planet knows how to kick ass and take charge, it’s Liam Neeson, who is in talks to be the next bureau chief in the Men in Black franchise.

Variety reports that Neeson could be the next big name star to sign on to the revival of the action-comedy series, which will return next year with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in the leading roles. Neeson would play the head of MIB in the UK, a position originally held by Rip Torn in the Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones films, which was then filled by Emma Thompson in the third film.

Set to be directed F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious) with a script from Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (Iron Man), Sony isn’t wasting any time with the “fast-tracked” film that will reportedly be a worldwide murder mystery. It is slated for a May 17, 2019 release, and that ambitious date is why we’d be surprised if Neeson didn’t formally sign on soon.

His casting could point to the film being heavy on the action sequences, but it could also be as simple as he’s really funny, even though he doesn’t always get to show it in a lot of his movies. He has a particular set of skills, and being hilarious is one of them.

What do you think of casting Liam Neeson as the head of an MIB agency? We will find you if you don’t share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
