“Let’s Kill Hitler” Prequel

As promised, on Monday the BBC released a two minute prequel to Doctor Who‘s mid-series premiere, “Let’s Kill Hitler,” just like they did with a few episodes in the first half. This one’s a little more story-based, though, which is a really good thing. Check it out, my darlings!

Holy crap, right? Something wicked that way came, or something. Matt Smith is an amazing actor, even when he says nothing. August 27th, you better not dawdle.

  1. John says:

@dan In the episode at the end of Good Men Go To War, and the episode after that it explains Amy’s daughter is River.

  2. Ashley says:

    Whoa!!!! Mind blown! Interesting idea.

  3. Scott says:

Just a somewhat depressing thought… what if this isn’t really a prequel but instead takes place after series 6 and the Doctor is listening to Amy’s voice after she has died.

  4. Kyle Anderson says:

    @bob canada
The release of Series 6.1 was just a vanilla, bare-bones release and presumably they’ll have a “Complete Series Six” box set that will include all the little prequels and what not, probably by Christmas time.

In the mid-series finale, “A Good Man Goes To War.”

  5. dan says:

When was it revealed that Amy’s baby is River?

  6. Logan says:

Unfortunately I haven’t seen the last 6 episodes but this preview was just amazing. Matt Smith really does a good job. Can’t wait for these to be on Netflix streaming so I can watch them!

  7. bob canada says:

Very cool. Matt Smith has done the impossible, and made me forget about David Tennant.

The previous prequel or mini-episode or whatever you call them, “Time” and “Space,” were some of my favorite Who ever. The Moff managed to cram an entire mind-bending story with a beginning, middle and end into a mere 8 minutes. I was sorely disappointed when these two mini eps weren’t included on the Series 6 DVD. Does anyone know if they’ll be included in the second half? They’ve always included the mini-eps before.

  8. dom A. says:

I bet the Doctor NEVER answers his phone. Not even for his mum.

  9. Art says:

After multiple viewing, it still gives me chills at the end. You’ve never seen the Doctor like…that! Just unsure and almost beaten. I think the second half is really going to be a gem. the Moff obviously is out-doing himself this year!

  10. JE Smith says:

Wow, Amy seems REALLY upset about her missing baby. Lame.

  11. Tony says:

I LOVE how the scene is so full of gravitas and it’s followed-up by:

    “Let’s Kill Hitler”

Cue the Benny Hill “Yakety Sax”

  12. Emily G says:

the prequel is seriously fantastic. Even for two minutes matt smith can show such great emotion. I feel so bad for Amy as well as the Doctor trying to figure things out in his head and trying to help Amy as well. I can’t wait to see how this unravels.

  13. K2theM says:

The over-text was a bit understated. Wasn’t much to watch for the first 1:30, but the last 30sec were the important bits. The Doctor is clearly at his wits end trying to figure out this puzzle.

  14. Vincent S says:

:'( that music and Amy’s desperation just reduces me into a pile of tears. Same thing with the mid-season reveal. Something about great music just gets into me… *feeling sad in a corner*

  15. Gabrielbrawley says:

    Oh my.

  16. Tyler says:

I thought it was excessively understated, personally.
