Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for an Academy Award five times in his 27-year career, but heâs always gone home empty handed on Oscar night. This year, DiCaprio has his sixth Oscar nod (and his fourth nomination for Best Actor) for his role as Hugh Glass in The Revenant. And while his chances seem good this time, a new parody video game puts players in control of DiCaprio as he seeks out his ultimate prize.
The Line Animation has created Leoâs Red Carpet Rampage, a new arcade-style game that literally puts DiCaprio in a race for his beloved Oscar. Leo will attempt to leap over paparazzi, avoid Lady Gaga, and outrun his rivals Bryan Cranston, Michael Fassbender and Eddie Redmayne. Cranston is surprisingly fast in this game, and who knew how well Redmayne could move in that dress? He really is a wizard!
Other game modes include a recreation of DiCaprioâs car crawl from The Wolf of Wall Street and a spoof of Mortal Kombatâs âTest Your Mightâ as DiCaprio strains to âact harder.â
That was just the gameplay video. Leoâs Red Carpet Rampage actually exists in playable form, and you can check it out here. The game itself is about as simple as it can possibly be. Your success or failure depends entirely on how fast you can press G and H to keep DiCaprio moving. But, if youâre good at button-mashers then you should be able to lead DiCaprio to Oscar gold in no time at all!
What did you think of Leoâs Red Carpet Rampage? Will this be the year that DiCaprio earns his moment of glory at the Oscars? Fight off a bear and share your thoughts below!
