LEGO DIMENSIONS Level Packs Include DOCTOR WHO & PORTAL 2

In case you haven’t heard, collectible figurines with in-game implications are the in thing right now. With the announcement of Lego Dimensions, the block-building phenomenon will be joining the ranks of amiibo, Skylanders, and Disney Infinity in the collectibles realm. The question is, how will they hold up after joining the fray so late?

According to some leaked images, they are planning on catching up with some tantalizing little blocks that you will want in your collection. Along with the already announced sets of Batman, Gandalf, and Lucy (a.k.a. WyldStyle), the other level packs that are going to make their way into the game include, Doctor Who, Portal 2, Jurassic World, The Simpsons, Back To The Future, along with some other stand-alone toys. We already knew of a few of these, but the new ones sure are an enticing incentive to jump on board.

Lego Dimensions has an advantage over its competitors in that there are Legos for every franchise imaginable. And not just video game franchises or movies, so the possibilities are practically endless. Doctor Who specifically should be a crowd pleaser, as the TARDIS looks magnificent. The one I am extremely excited for is Portal 2. Depending on how this set is used, we could get some wonderful mind-bending puzzles. This has to be some sort of video game “inception”, right? A game within a game? But I digress!

Portal 2‘s inclusion in the game is merely an example of Lego’s ability to pull in franchises that the competitors would never be able to. To put things into perspective, this is just the first wave we know of. What we will be able to see in the future, if the game is successful, is an interesting thought in itself.

If the game is as great as these level packs, we are in for a treat. The true test will be the gameplay–there are so man Lego games already, and the fatigue from those may eventually set in, so there needs to be fresh new gameplay. Make sure to check out the gallery below for an up-close and personal look at the packs. Build your thoughts in the comments section below, and let us know which one of these sets has you more excited? Keep on building the positive vibes.
