LEGEND OF ZELDA Characters as Intricate Masks

LEGEND OF ZELDA Characters as Intricate Masks

I can’t resist a theme. I feature all kinds of work in Fan Art Friday, but I like when an artist takes an idea and creates several images around it. For example, Jess Craig found inspiration in Balinese masks. The traditional carved masks are elegant and insanely detailed. She took the concept of the masks and applied it to characters in pop culture, reimagining individuals and beings as the masks.

Jess has tackled a number of franchises in this series but completed a whole line of Legend of Zelda themed masks I want to share. Let’s start with Link:

And this is how Zelda looks with the mask treatment:

Make a hop to the gallery below to see Ganon, Majora, and a couple other characters as masks. Then, to go outside the world of Legend of Zelda and see more masks designed by Jess, check out her Instagram feed—there’s a Titan from Attack on Titan that gives me all kinds of creeps. You can also keep up with her non-mask art on Instagram.

Do you create any sort of fan art? If so, I want to see it. Whether you focus on a specific fandom or pull inspiration from multiple stories and mediums, I’d like to highlight what you do. If you’re interested in being featured in a future edition of Fan Art Friday, get in touch with me at [email protected] with examples of your work. If you’re not an artist, feel free to email me with recommendations for Fan Art Friday!
