You know David O’Doherty as a very funny comedian who has appeared on the Nerdist Podcast and did that segment from the Doctor Who Experience for the Nerdist TV show. You might not know that he is also the co-author of a brand-new book that has been released this very week. You will be advised of this situation forthwith.
“100 Facts About Sharks” is, to be accurate, David’s second book, following the successful “100 Facts About Pandas.” Written with Claudia O’Doherty and illustrator Mike Ahern, his collaborators on the panda book as well, the book offers information about sharks of which you may have previously been unaware, since their accuracy is somewhat debatable.
Here’s a little about the book from the official release:
Leading sharkeologists David OâDoherty, Claudia OâDoherty and Mike Ahern bring you a hundred things you definitely didnât know about the oceansâ most terrifying creatures.
Would you ever have guessed, for example, that:
- the great white shark hates jazz music;
- a group of hammerhead sharks is called âa toolbeltâ;
- the reef shark can send intimidating telephone text messages with its mind;
- Dancing With the Sharks was Bulgarian TVâs least successful ever television show;
- and the word ‘shark’ actually looks quite like a shark.
Your knowledge of sharks is about to get a hundred facts more knowledgeable.
You get the idea.
Now, the book’s just been published in the U.K. by Random House’s Square Peg imprint, but while it’s not in U.S. bookstores yet, you can order it directly from Amazon.co.uk or through sellers in the U.S. Amazon Marketplace.
There’s more about the book at the official website, which is here. Not here as in Nerdist, but here as in “click here.”
I’m probably the biggest shark fan ever and I’m concerned this is a load of rubbish right? Please help me work this out.
Amazing. Love David O’Doherty.
The book looks awesome, i am buying mine right now.
