A leaked image of what many have been calling the Red Dead Redemption 2 map surfaced over the weekend. Grab your hat and a cougar-skinning knife.
While many have quickly fingered the picture as fraudulent, Tech Radar declares that an independent source âclose to the development of the new Red Dead gameâ has verified the images as authentic.
The source also claimed that the game would be a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, and take place East of the play area from the last game. If you look at the images in the gallery below, you can see first-hand how the leaked map overlaps with Red Dead Redemption‘s. As many who posted in the NeoGAF thread have pointed out, the lack of train tracks is one of the main clues that suggests the game takes place in a time before the last.
There are a lot of naysayers out there and Rockstar has been known to be dodgy, but I think this looks pretty legit. Whether or not this is simply Rockstar creating a distraction for another announcement is an entirely different story. This also could just be some troll’s elaborate scheme to break everyone’s heart, so until we get official confirmation, I’d take this with a grain of salt.
How anxious are you to see another Red Dead game? Did you check out Red Dead Revolver before moving on to the more popular game in the series? Draw and fire your thoughts into the comments below.
