Lana Del Rey Blows Up A Helicopter In Her New Music Video

There are a few things we know about the enigmatic Lana Del Rey: She broke through into the mainstream in 2012 with her sophomore album Born To Die, lead by the melancholy yearning of the then-ubiquitous single “Video Games”. We also know that she released her third album, Ultraviolence, last year and now, we’re awaiting her fourth album–Honeymoon, which drops on September 18–mainly because of her new music video for “High By The Beach”.

There’s also a lot we don’t know about Lana, like what her pre-stardom life was like, for instance. There’s the fabricated(?) narrative that says for a good portion of her adult life, she was poor and slumming it up in trailer parks, but there’s tons of doubt about how true that really is. Her father is a wealthy entrepreneur, after all.

Here’s what we think: She used to be a military sniper charged with taking down enemy aircraft, and Lana now feels comfortable enough with her previously repressed past to open up about it and SHOOT DOWN A HELICOPTER in her new music video for “High by the Beach”.

Yes: the fragile, neo-Americana love story that is Lana Del Rey might actually be a top-tier badass. With celebrity comes the expectation that your personal space will often be invaded, and most famous people deal with that pretty well, as long as the paparazzi keep to the streets and know their limits. But when they start using choppers to stalk you as you gyrate around your kitchen like a PCP-popping hula-hooper at Lollapalooza, a line has been crossed, a line that seems to require lethal, fiery force.

So, you know, maybe don’t cross Lana Del Rey.
