Ladies of Rap: The Awkward Kids Get Naughty

The Awkward Kids’ Ladies of Rap is making noise on the YouTube scene, a rambunctious comedy rap series centering on some of nerd culture’s best female characters and personalities.  The all-female sketch comedy group has no filter, and therefore no problem tearing directly into the often controversial, overly-sexualized representations of the heroes and villains whom our beloved internet has commonly perverted.

Using this deviant charm to their advantage, Awkward Kids members Dana Pacheco, Christiann Castellanos, and Michelle Glavan serve up the nerdy stereotypes of both genders via highly-stylized video rap battles.  Spoofing the fandom and franchises of giants like the Gotham City Sirens, Game of Thrones, and Tim Burton flicks, these women also tackle broader nerdy stereotypes like famous vampire girlfriends and dudes who love arcades.  Prepare yourself for some ridiculously sexual, in-your-face, epic rap battles between the women of fantasy worlds:

There’s a bit of a void in the female internet rap comedy game, and it’s awesome to see some fearless femmes in the mix.  Notable collaborators on their channel include Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, JacksFilms, Aimee Teegarden, Jason Horton, Anders Holm, McGoiter, and many more. They’ve also been nominated for two L.A. Weekly Web awards for “Best YouTube Star” and “Best Original YouTube Song”, and been featured in New Media Rockstar‘s annual list of “Creators You Should Know“.  The girls have also performed live on the main stages of Playlist Live, VidCon, the Hollywood Improv, Upright Citizens Brigade, the Gibson Guitar Bus, and even our very own Nerdmelt Showroom.

To kick off 2014, Ladies of Rap are planning on a Marvel vs. DC rap battle, of which you can be a part: Making high quality videos is serious business, so they’ve set up a Patreon Page to involve their fans and properly compensate their hardworking crew.

Check out Awkward Kids’ Ladies of Rap on social media and tell them about which nerdy subject you’d like a rap battle in 2014:
