Kylo Ren Talks First in Hilarious THE FORCE AWAKENS Redub

While some Star Wars fans aren’t completely sold on Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren as the new badass villain for the series, it appears that he’s got great potential for unintended comedy. Driver seemed to play up that aspect of the dark apprentice when he became “Matt the Radar Tech” for the Undercover Boss sketch on SNL, which has actually become a really popular cosplay. But what if Kylo Ren were meant to be funny all along?

Auralnauts have released a new video of some of Kylo Ren’s scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens with redubbed audio, and additional visual effects by Bizzaro Studio and MegaSteakMan. It’s expertly made, and their Kylo Ren soundalike is pretty convincing in the Driver’s seat.

For the most part, the video features early scenes from The Force Awakens, notably including the initial face-to-face conversation with Poe Dameron. Even Captain Phasma gets in on the fun when a Game of Thrones sample of Gwendoline Christie’s Brienne of Tarth causes Kylo Ren to blame all of his problems on Stannis Baratheon.

There is actually something both funny and intimidating about being unable to hear Kylo Ren’s threats because his helmet keeps malfunctioning. And the slightly horrified expression on General Hux’s face takes on new meaning when his masked associate demands to know what kind of product he puts in his hair.

But the best part of the video features the despot-formerly-known-as-Ben performing a cover of Rihanna’s “Work” until Poe Dameron’s mind snaps. Now that’s torture!
