KONG and JOHN WICK Get the Funko Pop! Treatment in 2017

KONG and JOHN WICK Get the Funko Pop! Treatment in 2017

The folks at Funko sure know how to take things that have no business being cute and adorable and making them, well…very cute and adorable. Thanks to the latest announcements via Funko’s official blog, we’ve learned just who the latest pop culture characters to join the Pop! vinyl figure line-up are, and they include the most iconic simian in Hollywood history, and Keanu Reeves’ coolest role since he was Neo in The Matrix movies.

First up, coming in January is none other than King Kong himself, in a version of the character from the upcoming Kong: Skull Island movie, which hits theaters in March of 2017. This 6” Super-Sized Kong Pop! will tower over the rest of your collection of Pop! figures. He seems to be holding a helicopter in his hands, maybe we’ll eventually get a variant in black and white tones, where’s he’s holding fainting damsel Fay Wray? (or Naomi Watts, for whoever is into that).

Also coming in January is two versions of Keanu Reeves as John Wick, as he’s going to appear in the anticipated John Wick: Chapter 2, which is hitting theaters on February 10 of next year. According to Funko’s official description, “He’s a legendary hitman forced out of retirement and into the world of Pop!” The John Wick, figure will come in two versions, one in his standard suit, and the other a limited 1 in 6 chase variant all bloodied up and looking like he had a really bad day. The inclusion of John Wick proves there is no movie too adult or gritty to get the Funko Pop! treatment, which is totally OK by me.
