KINGSMAN Creator Mark Millar Announces Global Comic Book Talent Search

Have you ever wanted to break into the comic book industry as a writer or an artist? If so, then Kingsman: The Secret Service creator, Mark Millar wants to hear from you!

Beginning today, September 28, Millar is launching a global comic book talent search for writers and artists through his Millarworld imprint. Six artists and six writers will be selected and paired up to work on stories for the Millarworld Annual 2016 comic book that will feature characters from the Millarworld library. The Millarworld Annual 2016 will be published and sold in comic book stores everywhere, and the winning writers and artists will be paid the starting rates for Marvel and DC Comics creators.

“There seems to be a real disconnect between genuinely talented and skilled students at schools, colleges and universities getting into the comic-book industry,” said Millar. “I want to provide a platform to enable these creative people to showcase their talents and, most importantly, to get published and paid.”

“Working in comics is the best job in the world,” added Millar. “It’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was five and it’s genuinely a thrill to switch on my computer every morning. If I can help in some small way to get other people started with this special annual every year it’ll be an honour. I really couldn’t recommend this career more highly.”

In addition to Kingsman, Millar also co-created Kick-Ass and Wanted, both of which have been adapted as feature films. Millar’s current creator owned comics include Huck and Jupiter’s Circle, which are published through Image Comics.

The Millarworld Global Talent Search will run through November 30. Artist submissions are currently being accepted on the Millarworld website, and writer submissions will be accepted next week. For more information about the talent search, visit Millarworld.tv.
