Kevin Smith’s YOGA HOSERS Looks Equal Parts Awesome and Weird

There’s no way to describe the upcoming Kevin Smith movie without sounding absolutely mad, so we’ll just get the basic description out of the way. Yoga Hosers is a film where two sarcastic teenage yoga enthusiasts battle an ancient evil force of tiny hot dog Nazis with help from a French-Canadian detective played by Johnny Depp.

Phew. With that over and done with, let’s elaborate a bit. You may be familiar with Kevin Smith’s 2014 body horror/comedy film Tusk in which a podcast host (played by Justin Long) travels to Canada for an interview only to be captured and transformed into, let’s say, something different. As it turns out, it was but the first in a series of interconnected films called the “True North trilogy.”

Yoga Hosers will follow two teenage girls, both named Colleen (played by Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose and Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn) and their run-in with an evil force that appear to be tiny Nazis made out of Bratwurst. The motivation of these “Bratzis” is still unclear, but judging from the trailer, it seems this film will be a bit more lighthearted and comedic fare than its predecessor was. In fact, the way the characters react to the supernatural elements in the trailer allows the drawing of parallels to Edgar Wright’s Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.

As Tusk ended up amazingly weirder than its trailer even suggested, we have some high hopes for Yoga Hosers when it gets released later this year. However, should you find yourself wondering exactly what’s going on, take a gander at Dan Casey’s review of the film from the Sundance Film Festival. But be warned, it’s full of spoilers, you hosers.

Excited for Yoga Hosers? How about Smith’s next one Moose Jaws? Which is literally Jaws but with a moose. Let’s discuss in the comments below!
