Kevin Feige Reveals His Big MCU Mistake

In just a few short hours, Avengers: Infinity War‘s preview screenings will begin and the early indications are that it will have one of the biggest opening weekends of all-time. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has achieved the formerly impossible dream after ten years of Marvel movies. But that doesn’t mean Feige hasn’t made a few mistakes along the way. Today’s spoiler free Nerdist News throws the spotlight on two of Feige’s biggest MCU regrets.

Join guest host Dan Casey as he goes over recent interviews with Feige in which Marvel’s head honcho owned up to two of his biggest MCU mistakes. The first one is Thor‘s face, specifically his eyebrows. Feige had Thor star Chris Hemsworth dye his eyebrows to match his character’s hair color in his first solo movie. Now, Feige definitely feels that was the wrong call.

However, that’s not the error currently haunting Feige. According to his recent chat with IGN, Feige’s decision to withhold the title of Avengers 4 has completely backfired. When the studio changed the name from Infinity War Part 2, Feige hoped it would keep the conversation focused on Infinity War. Instead, it’s had the opposite effect. Now, there’s so much hype for the real title of Avengers 4 that even Feige doesn’t believe the reveal will live up to the expectations.

That conversation also shed some light on why Marvel has become even more secretive regarding its upcoming projects. Feige feels announcing every Phase 3 movie in 2014 took some of the shine off of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It should be noted Age of Ultron was still a huge hit, so it’s debatable whether it was truly a mistake for Marvel to share its plans with fans. But if Feige believes it was a mistake to openly plan that far ahead then it probably means we won’t learn about new MCU films until they start getting closer to production.

What do you think about Feige’s MCU regrets? Let’s discuss in the comment section below!
