Katniss Visits District 12 in the Latest THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY Teaser

After all she’s been through, it’s amazing that Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is able to function. The hero of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has participated in two of the Capitol’s twisted Hunger Games. She’s been forced to kill to survive; she’s essentially a veteran of war. That doesn’t mean she gets to rest though. Not yet. In the upcoming film, she’s forced to not only fight in the rebellion against President Snow, but also to be its symbolic leader. She’s the Mockingjay, and the citizens of Panem are looking to her for inspiration.

However, as President Coin (Julianne Moore) states, “The games destroyed her.” She’s faced with doing whatever it takes to push Katniss into action, and we see one of her and Plutarch Heavensbee’s (Philip Seymour Hoffman) moves in the latest teaser for Mockingjay – Part 1. They send her to visit her home, and District 12 isn’t what it used to be. Watch:

The Capitol wrecked it. Everything appears to be in dust except Victor’s Village. The scene makes my heart hurt. Just when Katniss finds some remnants of her old life – her jacket, a photo of her father – she learns President Snow has anticipated her return. I can never look at white roses the same way again because of The Hunger Games.

If the film is even a quarter as powerful as the trailers have been, I’m going to need emotional support after watching it. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is in theaters on November 21st.

Oh, and by the way: That fantastic music in the trailer? It’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” by Lorde.
