Katniss Everdeen Goes Full Mockingjay in Latest HUNGER GAMES Poster

Promotion for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has emphasized the building rebellion against Panem. We’ve seen intimidating propaganda style teasers, posters revealing the residents of District 13 who are orchestrating the fight, and hints of the symbolic leader: Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence). She’s been pushed into a position she never intended to be in, and she must become the Mockingjay to inspire the citizens of Panem to stand up against President Snow. The final poster for Mockingjay – Part 1 reveals a Katniss who has transformed into a fierce and heavily armed warrior.

Would you cross her? Hell no. Would you follow her into a war? I’m going to go with yes.

Katniss is undoubtedly a scrappy fighter. She’s survived one and a half Hunger Games, but that’s the key. She was focused on survival and not on starting a revolution. She sparked a fire purely by accident. Superficially? She’s the impressive and brave Mockingjay we see in the poster (I hope to see many cosplayers tackle this outfit in the 2015 convention season!). But, the real story isn’t how many Peacekeepers she takes out or many arrows she lets loose, it’s how Katniss struggles with the weight and meaning of her new position – how she wears the Mockingjay costume.

Perhaps we’ll see some of that in the upcoming official trailer for Mockingjay – Part 1 that will be out on September 15. Watch a tease of what’s to come:

What do you think of Katniss’ Mockingjay look? Does she look like a leader to you? Head to the comments and share your thoughts with us.
