Ho-ly cats, you guys. There are few things we love more than futuristic dystopian television that’s a scientific cautionary tale, but to have it be created by and starred in by Katee Sackhoff? WHAT IS THIS, TV CHRISTMAS?
According to Deadline, Sackhoff is creating and starring in the series — cuz have you heard? Sisters? They be doin’ it for themselves, y’all — titled Rain.
Though it does not yet have a distributing network attached, it’s only going to be a matter of time by the sounds of it. The show is described as a parable of the evolutionary and scientific variety, diving into our species’ hypothetical future. Told through the eyes of a soldier named — wait for it! — Rain (played by Sackhoff), the show is set to explore, per Deadline, “how the long-term effects of global warming, the burning of fossil fuels, and the scientific manipulation of nature’s balance rot the world and contribute to its decline.”

“With Rain, Katee has created a future world and a story that are compelling as both a sweeping vision and a very personal exploration of a civilization in harrowing decline by its own hand,” explained Reunion Pictures’ Tom Rowe in a statement. Also a good sign for the series? Sackhoff will be working with producers from Continuum, which means you know its intrigue game will be ON POINT.
