Kate McKinnon Takes Lead in THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS and More TV News

We broke down a lot of news from the realm of Netflix yesterday, but we’re not done. The streaming service is featured in today’s TV-Cap with a casting announcement about their revival of The Magic School Bus, a release date for their Anne of Green Gables adaptation, news about a Castlevania animated series, and more.

The Wheels on the Bus… Netflix is resurrecting The Magic School Bus, which means they had to find the voice for the best teacher in the world, Ms. Frizzle. To that end, they announced on Wednesday Ms. Frizzle will be played by Kate McKinnon in Magic School Bus Rides Again. Is this perfect or perfect? I hope McKinnon cosplays the character at some point. I need to see that. [Nerdist]

It’s a Thing. Remember when Frederator Studios’ Fred Seibert talked about working on an animated series that could be Castlevania? Well, Netflix announced a Castlevania animated series is coming in 2017. It will be a four part season with 30 minute episodes and will feature the Belmont clan from the game. Specifically it will be about “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.” IGN confirmed with producer Adi Shankar that it’s an adaptation of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and that it will be R-rated. Gingers Unite. Netflix is bringing their adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, titled Anne, to life in just a few months. The above video announces the premiere date of May 12. Are you longing to go back to Green Gables? [Nerdist]

Be a Good Host. The Walking Dead‘s Negan has shown himself to be capable of playing the part of regular ol’ suburban dude in Alexandria. If he could make his own lemonade, it might be something like this recipe from Jenn.

All. The. Drama. Humidity’s the real killer in the third season of Angie Tribeca. A new promo from TBS shows Angie and her colleague have to track a serial killer all over the United States, including to the sweaty New Orleans. New episodes of the comedy crime series are coming on April 10. [Deadline]

Mom and Dad? Kevin Sorbo and Teri Hatcher are coming to season two of Supergirl as villains, but we didn’t know much about their roles until Tuesday. Sorbo talked with ET Online and said his character will be married to Hatcher’s character. He added, “I’m from another planet that’s an arch-rival planet of Krypton, which is now of course destroyed.” Hmm. Could they be Mon-El’s parents? The planet he describes certainly fits with what we know about Daxam. [CBR]

That’s All She Wrote. The Vampire Diaries is coming to a close, and they’ve finished the last day of filming. It’s been eight years, so I imagine it was an emotional experience to wrap for the final time. Series executive producer Julie Plec shared the above photo of a cake with Mystic Falls landmarks, and other cast and crew shared pics on social media as well. Visit Entertainment Weekly for a round-up.

Josie Rules. It’s Thursday, a.k.a. new Riverdale day. To celebration the occasion, have a new video featuring Josie and the Pussycats singing “All For Me.”

Stars on Top of Stars. PaleyFest LA 2017 is slated to happen from March 17-26, and the star-studded line-up has been announced. The event will include cast members and executive producers from series such as The Walking Dead, The Flash, Arrow, This Is Us, Orphan Black, and many more. You can get the full list of panelists and purchase tickets right this way.

Recaps Galore. Wednesday night TV brought it, as they say. That means I have a handful of recaps to share with you. Take a moment to revisit the latest installments of these shows and see what you might have missed: The Magicians, The Expanse, The 100, and Legion.

Are you looking forward to hearing McKinnon as Ms. Frizzle? Tell me about your favorite The Magic School Bus moments in the comments.
