JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Ramps Up the Horror with New Trailer

It’s the Super Bowl! That means two things: lots of football, but far more importantly AMAZING NEW TRAILERS! Universal came straight out of the park–all puns intended–with a fantastically scary new horror-tinged trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Luckily for those of you not watching, the Jurassic World Twitter account tweeted the trailer almost instantly!

This trailer shows a very different tone than the first look we got at the movie, and really anything we’ve seen from Jurassic Park. Leaning heavily into director J.A. Bayona’s horror roots, the short showcased a gothic tone, opening with a fantastically creepy moment with a raptor-like claw curling over a young girl in her bed. It’s also not short on the action, with multiple shots of the wild dinosaur and explosions set piece that the first trailer hinted at, along with teasing an entirely new plot that seems to revolve around the young girl from the opening who lives in some kind of dinosaur house of horrors and speaks of a very ominous sounding “them.”

We also got our first look at Toby Jones, who you may recognize as Arnim Zola from Marvel’s Captain America films. He appears to be the film’s main villain, holding court over a shady corporate meeting that reveals a horrifying new prehistoric creation to a terrified crowd of potential investors. Could he have taken the reigns over the fallen kingdom that is InGen? Whatever’s going on, we’re seriously into this gothic take on our favorite dinosaur franchise!

Are you excited for Jurassic World? Are you into the horror twist on this monster franchise? Which trailer are you most stoked for this Super Bowl? Let us know below!
