UPDATE: Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, has confirmed on Instagram that he is set to star and produce the Jumanji remake. Your move, Kevin Hart!

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are hilarious in their own right, and in fact in most people’s rights. Putting them together makes perfect sense. They were great hosts at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend and will team up again this June for Central Intelligence. If Sony has their way, they could be teaming up again, this time in the reboot of the 1995 Robin Williams film Jumanji.

Variety is reporting that Sony is in talks with the two actors to appear in the remake, which could, in turn, create a franchise. Nerdist has reached out to Sony for confirmation but has not received a reply at time of publication.

The film is set to start filming this August. The only thing that would put a damper on this team up would be their schedules. Johnson is filming Fast 8 this summer (Or Furious 8. Or Fast and Furious 8. I think if you call it any of those titles, you are correct), as well as the third season of the HBO show Ballers. If Warner Brothers decides to shift their DCEU timeline, he could also be finally filming Shazam, in which he plays Black Adam. Hart will be filming a remake of the 2011 French film The Intouchables with Bryan Cranston this summer as well.

The original Jumanji film starred Robin Williams as Alan Parrish, who as a boy became trapped in the magical board game for 26 years. No word on how both Johnson and Hart would fit into the new film, but together, they will definitely be able to balance the action and comedy Williams did so well in the first film.

Jumani, directed by Jake Kasdan, is set for release July 28, 2017.
