Judd Apatow and Amy Schumer Talk TRAINWRECK at SXSW

After spending ten day in Austin, Texas covering the annual megafestival that is SXSW, my body is just emerging from the system shock of everything not smelling like brisket all the time. While at the festival, I managed to catch the “work in progress” premiere of Trainwreck, the new comedy from director Judd Apatow and writer-producer-star Amy Schumer. As I mentioned in my review, it is one of the best rom-coms of 2015 and I can safely say that it’s one of the best films Apatow has helmed in years. As if her stand-up specials and Inside Amy Schumer, her Comedy Central series, left any doubt, Schumer is a comedic force of nature, and this film is one hell of a way to show she has major crossover talent.

Last week, I had the chance to sit down with Judd Apatow and Amy Schumer before they left town to ask them about what exactly made this film a “work in progress.” Plus, we talked about how the duo first came to work together, what was left on the cutting room floor, and how LeBron James proved himself to be the most lovable character in the entire film.

Trainwreck hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
