Josh Trank to FANTASTIC FOUR Critics: “A Year Ago I Had a Fantastic Version of This”

Fantastic Four and Meek Mill seem to have a lot in common in that both are taking a relentless shelling online right now. Taking another page out of Meek Mill’s handbook, director Josh Trank’s trigger finger turned Twitter finger when the filmmaker took to social media to unload strong remarks to both critics of his newly released superhero film and Fox itself. Though the tweet in question was swiftly deleted, we managed to snag a screenshot of it before it disappeared into the Internet ether.

Josh-Trank-Twitter-Remarks

Someone tell Michael B. Jordan that Josh Trank is gunning for his role, because he is clearly in “flame on” mode right now. Rather than making like the Invisible Woman and fading out of sight, Trank came out swinging Ben Grimm-style, and threw critics and the studio under the proverbial bus. After his departure from the second Star Wars Anthology film earlier this year, many speculated that his relationship with producer Simon Kinberg had soured. Based on Trank’s remarks, one could surmise that Kinberg, a producer on both projects, and the other folks at Fox stepped in to chop, screw, and edit down Fantastic Four before its final release.

The film, which runs an ultra-lean 100 minutes long, is seemingly missing large chunks and lacks any real semblance of a second act, so Trank’s claims of another, “better” version could very well be true. That isn’t to say that Fantastic Four is without its merits–I rather enjoyed the core ensemble’s performances, but it was hard to overlook the film’s narrative gaps and lack of connective tissue. What’s done is done, though, and telling your employers and critics that “It’s clobbering time” doesn’t necessarily seem like the proper course of action. But, as Trank says, “That’s reality though.”
