Jonah Raydio #5: Another Episode

In this drunken episode of Jonah Raydio, Nick Thorburn talks about his life in music. Fronting bands like The Unicorns, Islands, and Mister Heavenly, he was a delight to have on. We listen to his work, drink a bit too much, and quite possibly make Cash almost quit. Also, a bailed-on Music News segment, listener mail, and songs by Rozwell Kid and The Pettyfords.

I discovered Jonah Ray through Chris Hardwick, and no offense,I like Jonah a lot better than Chris so far. Personal preference I guess.

Ah, I’m so happy that this podcast has come around. I literally heard Islands (song ‘Hallways’) for the first time yesterday and immediately looked up their back catalog. So, it’s nice to see Nick as a guest. Looking forward to listening to all of these.

Islands has such a great sound.

Can a negative music review be insightful and intellectual? Absolutely! But man was I disturbed when Neil said Adele was good. Ugh (with a capital ‘U’)! Hearing Adele’s voice is like having a two or three dicks trying to fit into my ear with the scrotums milking my lobes. I had a dead molar removed a few months ago and the shit stew “Die Another Day” (song for the new James BORED movie) was playing while Dr. Dentalman drilled away. The feeling was synonymous with a Smash Mouth song playing while being raped. Every time I see Adele’s STUPID face on a magazine while waiting in line to purchase food items at the grocery store I just think, “Ugh!” She always looks so smug. And you just know she’s super smug. Her expressions used to be, “Oh, look at me. I’m heartbroken. Poor me. People call me fat, but I don’t care. Poor me.” GET OVER IT! It’s all an act. Her voice is nothing special. My grandma has a better voice than Adele and she’s DECEASED! Well, I’m going to give “Jonah’s Raydio Shows” one more chance. Hope Neil doesn’t ruin it again. Ugh!

Yes. The whole reason I’m a DJ is because of Pump up the Volume. One of the best movies ever.
